Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance CEIAG

All students at Camphill Wakefield can access our Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) provision through curriculum learning and individual meetings and sessions

The main aims of our Careers Provision are:

To support our students to recognise and grow their strengths, skills and abilities, and identify their needs and preferences
To engage students with their destination-focused pathways and journeys through a range of careers activities
To inform and advise our students about potential options and opportunities
To support students to access information and advice, and to utilise the guidance they receive

We offer a range of activities across all learning pathways, supporting our students to be actively involved in understanding their career options and empowering them to make informed choices about their future destinations

We are constantly improving our Careers Provision by using Compass toolkit assessments aligned to the Gatsby Benchmarks, and are currently working towards the Matrix Standards.

What Ofsted say about our Careers Provision:

“Most learners attend at least three or four specific careers advice and guidance sessions per year.

Staff plan purposeful activities with employers in line with learners’ individual aspirations.

Learners also go on site visits, benefit from listening to a range of guest speakers and go on work placements.

These activities help learners to gain a better understanding of their potential future career pathways”

What Students Can Expect:

A careers programme with activities aligned to each learning pathway, and differentiated to meet each student’s individual needs and preferences.

Students can request information and advice from the Careers Team.

Students can find out about activities and events on the Careers Activities and Events Calendar (right).

The Careers Provision is designed to be accessible at all stages of the learner journey, and to all levels of ability: information will be made accessible to meet individual needs and preferences, and activities are varied and flexible, enabling all students to engage.

What Parents/Carers Can Expect:

The annual review process enables parents/carers to be included and involved in each student’s careers programme.

As a parent/carer you can also expect to:

Receive information about upcoming careers events and activities directed at young people and their parents/carers.
Be contacted about any planned work experience placements.
Find out about the range of activities available via this website.
Have a designated contact person in college with whom to discuss careers and future related elements of the learning pathways and programme.
Receive information about Careers Activities, including guidance reports from the Careers Team.

How all staff engage with the Careers Provision:

All staff members receive Careers Training annually, and have refresher training and guidance throughout the academic year.

How we work with partner employers and businesses:

Camphill Wakefield works in partnership with a wide range of employers in the local region who offer:

Industry visits to their premises.
Guest speaker sessions and demonstrations in college.
Work experience.
Sustained work placements for Employability Pathway students.

What businesses and employers can expect from Camphill Wakefield:

The opportunity to support individuals or groups of keen and hard working students on placement in your business.
Invites into college as guest speakers to meet students and provide short sessions about your business and industry.
Supporting individuals with basic prior knowledge and experience in specific industry areas – bringing their skills and talents into your workplace!
Receive consistent support and guidance from college staff and job coaches.

Careers Takeover Day – Wednesday 5th March

A great day was had by all!

Our students engaged with a wide range of providers, businesses and individuals who were invited into college to run sessions and information stands.

The collaborative effort by all led to an amazing buzz around college throughout the day, and a number of creative and innovative sessions and experiences enabled each and every student participate in activities based on their interests.

Attending the Camphill Wakefield Careers Takeover Day was an absolutely fantastic experience for SoluPak Ltd. As it was our first time taking a SoluPak production line on the road, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were completely overwhelmed by the success of the day and the incredible engagement from the students.
