Adult Social Care – Day Services

Camphill Wakefield offers a comprehensive Day Services provision for adults aged 18 and over, operating Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 3:30pm. Designed for individuals who have completed their formal education, our service provides meaningful, person-centred activities both on campus and in the wider community. We are based in our welcoming and well-equipped building, Hibernia.

Our Activities:

  • Life Skills – General cleaning, personal care support, everyday tasks and social development.
  • Garden Activities – Maintaining grounds, growing fruit and vegetables, and planting projects.
  • Small Animal Care – Feeding, cleaning and carrying out basic health checks on small animals.
  • Multi-Crafts – Creating items for seasonal events and producing displays for Hibernia.
  • Voluntary Work Placements – Supported placements at a range of partner locations.
  • Cooking Sessions – Planning shopping lists, purchasing items and developing cookery skills.
  • Sensory Play – Engaging all five senses through stimulating, interactive activities.
  • Drama Sessions – Building confidence through performance, teamwork and creative expression.
  • Fitness and Wellbeing – Encouraging an active lifestyle through accessible exercise.
  • Person-Centred Goals – Setting individual targets to help each Graduate achieve outcomes.
  • Onsite Café and Shops – Gaining experience in customer service, money handling and social skills.

Our Community Access Coordinator, Adrienne, also supports Graduates to take part in community-based volunteering, including local environmental initiatives, foodbank support and work on community allotments. Graduates regularly visit local supermarkets to complete shopping tasks that support cooking, craft and sensory activities. They are also actively involved in planning leisure activities such as cinema trips, bowling and nature walks.

Frequently asked questions:

The service operates Monday to Friday during term time and holidays, subject to availability. We close during the Christmas period and on bank holidays. Placements are available for 38 weeks or 50 weeks per year.

Current Camphill Wakefield students; young people who previously studied with us and have completed their formal education; and other individuals who may benefit from or be interested in our provision.

Funding is available through a social care budget or private payment (not via an EHCP). Please note: We do not accept new starters without an allocated Social Worker.

Activities are planned according to the needs and interests of each group and may include the activities outlined above. All activities are fully risk assessed, and Graduates have access to campus facilities such as workshops and gardens. They may also take part in Stride (our theatre company) and enjoy off-site trips using college vehicles. Sessions are overseen by our Community Access Coordinator, Adrienne.

The fee covers all onsite activities from 9:00am to 3:30pm. Graduates bring a packed lunch and join students for shared lunchtime enrichment. A drink and snack (fruit or biscuits) are provided at break time.

Costs vary depending on the level of support required and are calculated individually. A full consultation and assessment are completed for all prospective Graduates.
