Our Therapy Team

As part of our status as a Specialist SEND Provider, we have an onsite Therapy Team to enhance the environment and our students learning experience. All students at college benefit from a skilled staff base, providing a universal approach to developing their communication, independence, and employability skills, and supporting their preparation for adulthood and their next destination. This includes staff workshops, training, general advice and guidance, and environmental recommendations and adaptations to benefit the inclusivity of all students.

For some students, additional therapy team interventions and provision may be recommended to meet their needs. Therapy team interventions and provision is based on individual need and specific to each student. This is identified as part of our admissions process and reviewed in line with student progress as part of the annual review process. The input is funded by Local Authorities.  Targeted therapy team interventions and provision may include observation, assessment, guidance, strategies, target setting contribution, provision of equipment and individualised resources, group work, embedded work in the learning environment or 1:1 support for a short period. The model of delivery is based on individual therapist/facilitator judgement to meet students’ needs and support development towards individual outcomes.

A small number of students may require specialist interventions and provision. Along with the above, this may include liaison with external professionals, and ongoing direct work with the student.
