High Needs Support Worker(s) – Communication Pathway**

Location: Camphill Wakefield Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 8:30am – 16:30pm (Term Time Only) will also consider part-time working hours.

Salary: SCP 28 (Actual £26,522.79 p/a)

We are recruiting High Needs Support Workers to join our specialist Communication Pathway. This role is dedicated to supporting learners with significant communication differences, sensory processing needs, and behaviours that may challenge. You will help create safe, structured, and therapeutic environments where our learners can develop communication, independence, and emotional regulation skills.

This is a specialist position requiring exceptional attunement, resilience, and consistency. You will work closely with Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and Pastoral teams to deliver personalised support.

What the Role Involves:

  • Providing 1:1 or 2:1 support for learners with highly complex SEND. • Implementing communication systems such as AAC, objects of reference, and iPad typing. • Recognising and responding to early signs of dysregulation with sensory strategies. • Supporting emotional regulation using PBS and trauma-informed practice. • Encouraging independence through real-life learning and Preparing for Adulthood activities. • Providing personal care, mobility support, and safe eating and drinking assistance. • Maintaining a predictable, low-arousal environment.
