Salary: SCP 28 – Actual £27,061.05 per annum
Responsible to: Curriculum & Progress Manager

 

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our growing team supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) on a temporary 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping young people and adults develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to achieve their aspirations and prepare for adulthood.

 

Working closely with Tutors and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning, contribute to learner progress, and help create an inclusive environment where every individual can thrive.

Applicants should hold a PTLLS qualification or be willing to work towards achieving this as part of their professional development.

You will teach very small groups of learners, using both indoor and outdoor learning environments.

Essential

  • Experience supporting learners with SEND in an educational, training, or support setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and engage learners with diverse needs.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and learner-centred practice.
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).

Desirable

  • PTLLS qualification or willingness to work towards it.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and person-centred approaches.
  • Experience supporting accredited and non-accredited learning programmes.
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support and communication strategies.
